Seven people were killed and 16 injured when attackers threw crude fire bombs at a bus in Bangladesh on Tuesday morning. The attack comes during a political strike, but opposition activists have denied responsibility for the attack.

The bus was traveling from the coastal city Cox's Bazar to the capital Dhaka. Those injured have been hospitalized, and many are being treated for burns.

Bangladesh has seen a number of political attacks, particularly vehicle fire bombings, since January, when former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's opposition alliance ordered a transportation blockade in an attempt to force Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resign. Fifty-three people have died from arson attacks during opposition strikes. Bangladesh will hold new elections in 2019.
