Why Sarah Palin can't be president

Tish Durkin

By Tish Durkin

If you already love Sarah Palin and would follow her anywhere, her sudden decision to trash the governorship of Alaska halfway into her first term strikes you not only as comprehensible, but brilliant, fantastic, ideal!

If you don't already love Sarah Palin and might or might not follow her to any given place, her sudden decision to trash the governorship of Alaska halfway into her first term seems loopy, insulting, suspicious, and reckless.

Newsflash: Sarah Palin cannot be elected president on the strength of people who already love her and would follow her anywhere.

Therefore, she is never going to be president.

For a spotlight hound like Palin, that's no biggie. She can be an obscenely paid talk show host and author. She can be a rabidly sought-after public speaker. She can be a powerfully influential Republican fundraiser-thus-powerbroker. But she cannot be president.

So let's stop talking about that, shall we?

Posted by Chris BurkMenn, Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 11:58 am I am pretty sure you are not all knowing. Sarah is an strong conservative and you actually have no say in anything political that she may decide to do. You may try to trash on your tiny articles that you write, but they carry no weight. The harsh sad reality is that God will guide this woman. Her faith is strong and you are weak. Maybe you should follow the example that Sarah leads. You probably would be writing for the New York times. The sad reality is that she has accomplished way more than you will in your life with that attitude!

Posted by The Other Aaron, Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 12:30 pm Ditto to Aaron above. AND I think if the GOP has any hope of making inroads into the power structure in DC in 2012, it had better dump Palin as soon as possible. She has opened the door wide for the party to kick her to the curb. She is a liability to them, nothing more. And THAT is why the mainstream media will keep her on the front page.... It helps paint the picture they want. Tish is absolutely right to note that Palin For President is not worth talking about, so let us watch for the upcoming Katie Couric special...

Posted by Chris Burkmenn, Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 1:29 pm That's the problem...The Other Aaron You thinking is never a good thing. You probably shouldn't do that much anymore. I am sure your brain hurts. Ask God he will give you the answer b/c us in the flesh only care about the flesh. Feed your spirits your flesh will never be satisfied.

Posted by Mike, Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 2:16 pm Why is it that so many of these GodSquad folks seems to have failed 6thgrade English, as manifest by their complete inability to apply basic grammar, syntax, word usage, punctuation, etc.? Does God require lack of articulation as a precondition to salvation? Or, maybe they're fully articulate but, in their breathless fervor, find themselves typing twice as fast as their brains can process cogent thought.

Posted by John, Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 2:42 pm I do appreciate Chris' honesty. Enough skirting around it it's time thinking itself, that pestering inconvenience, was kicked to the curb. Who needs it?Chris, if God set mankind apart from the rest of the beasts, surely part of that settingapart is the ability to use this big brain to think, reason, and question? Doesn't He want you to cherish all His gifts and use them to the best of your abilities? Isn't it then an affront to your Creator to abandon critical thought? Think about it.
