Did Kiefer Sutherland get off easy?

Why charges against the actor for head-butting a fashion designer at a party were dropped

"Jack Bauer escaped another close one," said Alison Gendar and Melissa Grace in the New York Daily News. Charges against 24 star Kiefer Sutherland, for head-butting fashion designer Jack McCollough at a Manhattan party in May, were dropped on Tuesday. The "Hollywood action hero" also lucked out in Los Angeles, "where prosecutors decided the head-butt wasn't serious enough to violate his probation from a 2007 drunken driving arrest."

Sutherland's alleged head-butt to McCollough was "one of the dirtiest cheap shots since Johnny swept the leg in The Karate Kid," said Natalie Finn in E! Online. But although "New York police threw the book at him," the "case had been going nowhere since the 24 star and McCollough issued a joint 'all is well' statement," so the Manhattan District Attorney's Office decided not to prosecute.
