Glenn Beck calls Obama a racist
Did the Fox News host's claim take Obama hatred to a new level?

"Oh, Glenn Beck. What won't you say?" asked Alex Koppelman in Salon. The conservative Fox News host said that President Obama is "a racist." (watch Glenn Beck call Obama racist) Beck said that Obama's criticism of Cambridge, Mass., police for arresting prominent black Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. at his own home was just the latest evidence that Obama "has a deep-seated hatred for white people or white culture."
President Obama is clearly a "race-baiter," said A.W.R. Hawkins in Human Events. The arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. "wasn’t a proper subject for presidential commentary," but Barack Obama pounced on it in a manner worthy of Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. Obama was supposed to be our first post-racial president, but he's flinging "reckless charges of 'racism'" the way Democrats have for ages whenever they wanted to silence their political adversaries.
Boy, it's becoming clear that some of the "Obama hatred" out there is all about his race, said Eric Kleefeld in Talking Points Memo, and it didn't start with Fox News' Glenn Beck calling President Obama a racist. Conservative radio king Rush Limbaugh recently said that Obama's criticism of the Gates arrest amounts to "a black president trying to destroy a white policeman." And the "racially charged attacks" are only getting worse as Obama's approval ratings "come down to Earth."

Posted by MiNi, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 4:35 pm I can't believe Beck and Limbaugh have the audacity to say that Obama is racist. Do I think Obama should have stayed out of the situation...yes..absolutely! But I don't think he is a racist. FOX news as most people are aware have some of the most small minded and racial views I have ever seen in my life. For Beck to say that is the same situation about Mr. Henry Gates. He pulled the race card and so is Beck. So who is the racist? I mean I guess and FOX news will say anything, and I mean anything to make Obama look like the worst guy ever! SAD!
Posted by Decca, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 4:40 pm News flashracism, like sexism, is what it is, regardless of who is doing it. Obama has made loads of racist comments, from his 'typical white' grandmother to 'rural poeple clinging to their guns and religion' to this judgment on the police. He stated himself he did not know the facts, but sided with Gates. Siding with someone because of their race/against someone because of their race, is that not the definition of racism? It's not ok, when anyone does it, too bad the pres doesn't have more class.
Posted by Harold, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 5:18 pm Obama out of the ClosetYou have to remember that Obama condoned what Gates did. He believed that Gates racial slurs were justified. You did not hear Obama come out publicly to say the way Gates spoke to the officer was wrong. When Gates saw a white cop, he say red. Obama's reaction on the other hand were borderline. Obama and Gates both need counseling but nether are man enough to admit it. The first step is admitting that you need help.
Posted by Claire B. Dooley, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 5:26 pm Post racist society? Does anybody really believe that? If so, they better get their head out of the clouds. I call Obama a white black man. Why is a mixed race person always identified as black? Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and I may be wrong, appears to be mixed race. I don't know, does that comment make me a racist? I use question marks because these are not rhetorical questions. When somebody who is a dark chocolate hue is elected President of the U.S., I might call this a post racist society.
Posted by MH, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 7:13 pm Obama is a racist. He is also a communist and is working hard to ruin this country and completely reverse what our founding fathers worked so hard to set up! He is a freakin idiot!!
Posted by Rick, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 7:26 pm Claire, Obama describes himself as an 'African American', a politically correct, yet not technically correct, way of saying 'Black'. Therefore, Obama has described himself as Black, the blame for that rests solely on his shoulders. That being said, Obama should have kept his mouth shut. Do I believe Obama is racist? No, but what he did was try to take an event and turn it into a political agenda, which at the time probably made sense to him. He saw it as a chance to combat racism in America, unfortunately for Obama, it backfired.

Posted by Norman, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 8:25 pm Most of you are half way nuts, and are clearly reaching for straws. If you think the President is a racist then you obviously missed the two hundred years prior to the civil rights movement when racism was in its prime. And, you obviously missed the civil rights movement when racist behavior was in high fashion with lynching, rapes, castration, beatings and outright 1st degree murder sanctioned by the state. Don't misuse the word or the concept.
