Russia: America's ongoing belligerence

Great Satan

The U.S. is arming Georgia to fight Russia, said Kirill Troitsky in the Russian military newspaper Voyenno-Promyshlenny Kurier. The Americans’ "open support of the militarist Georgian leadership was a major, if not decisive, factor that encouraged Georgian aggression" against the pro-Russian, breakaway province of South Ossetia last summer. Now they are doing it again, openly arming the regime of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili. U.S. experts admit delivering nearly 1,000 tons of weapons to Georgia, including machine guns. If Georgia rebuilds its military capability, it will be emboldened to attack the Ossetians again, forcing another Russian response. "Did the war teach the U.S. nothing?"

Posted by James Lemoine II, Monday, June 22, 2009, 4:29 pm Is there any proof the Obama administration is openly delivering weapons to Georgia? I realize there was ample evidence the Bush administration did just that, not that there is anything wrong with helping a future democracy survive. I would like to see more evidence before labeling America as Satan. The Russians supply Iran with weapons, is that okay? If you have a problem with a Georgian revolt, then perhaps Russia should treat them a little better, rather than blaming America for the failings of the Russian government.

Posted by John_Galt, Tuesday, June 30, 2009, 8:57 am What a ridiculous little article! Russia is the belligerent state. If we didn't arm Georgia or support Georgia, Russia would bully them into submission. I think that the economic downturn is the only reason Russia hasn't been more confrontational with its neighbors in the recent months. They saw the economic decline after the last attack and the fragile state of it's economy doesn't allow them to aggressive right now. If they had their way, the USSR would be resurrected.
