A White House truce with Fox News
Can peace last between the Obama administration and the news channel it called a GOP propaganda tool?

A Fox News vice president, Michael Clemente, and White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs reportedly hammered out a truce. Is the Obama administration's war with Fox really over?
Let's hope this lasts: "Not exactly peace in our time," says Charles Cooper in CBS News, "but at least it's a start." The feud was a distraction from real issues that made the White House look silly. And it hurt Fox News, too. Sure, it pleased the "red meat eaters" in Fox's audience, but it must have been demoralizing for Fox's "legions" of serious journalists and news producers to be branded as Republican propagandists.
"Fox, White House said to agree to truce"
The fighting will quickly resume: "Thus dies one of the sweetest, easiest sources of bloggy material we’ve had in ages. RIP," says Allahpundit in Hot Air. But don't worry, "these truces never last." The next time Glenn Beck attacks "The One" the White House will realize it hasn't really bullied Fox News into "quiescence on the public option, and the fun will start all over again.
"Truce: White House, Fox News end feud"
There won't be peace because Fox News doesn't want it: Fox News can't "promise to be nice," said Doug Aravosis in America Blog. They're not a news outlet that can try to be more fair and balanced -- "they were set up as a conservative propaganda operation, and that is what they are to this day." If Fox News promised a truce, it can't be trusted.
"Fox and White House reach a truce?"

Posted by Gut Shot, Thursday, October 29, 2009, 11:15 am Truth is that this backfired in BO's face and Fox ratings shot up. Sure some at Fox are uncomfortable being called republican, but you can not say that about the other news outlets, their loyalties lie to the left. Truces are called to allow time to regroup and reorganize. How can a truce hold up when you have the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Frank, and now Grayson in your camp? These maggots are fodder for the news media and will be a source of contention for both parties. Open mouth, insert foot.
Posted by Aaron, Thursday, October 29, 2009, 12:20 pm If the other leftbiased media services ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS, MSNBC, NYT, Reuters, AP... get the picture? were objective in their journalism, FOX would not stand out as much as it does. Its commentary is what it is, and is a known factor. Its news arm is very good at what it does as well. Don't like it? Don't watch it. And anyone who thinks what the WH did is a good idea better prepare for when the next ballsy conservative in office goes after the leftwing media just as hard.
Posted by get real, Thursday, October 29, 2009, 2:09 pm This concept of a liberal media is hogwash propaganda perpetuated by those without the mental flexibility and capacity to entertain any notion that threatens their narrow views of the world. Fox is nothing more than entertainment, you clowns, and watching it doesn't do you any good in the least. Obama called them out as entertainment for the Right. Give em hell, BHO.
Posted by Brett, Thursday, October 29, 2009, 2:21 pm Just because Faux News' ratings shot up doesn't mean that the people watching agree with what they do or say. Many were just checking out the tabloid journalism they heard about. No one at Faux is uncomfortable being called republican, and there are no 'legions of serious journalists and news producers' working at that network. Faux was and always will be a wingnut soapbox, and they probably never even slowed down in distorting the truth or outright lying. Do you really believe that people working for Faux consider it to be neutral?
Posted by Journalism is Dead, Thursday, October 29, 2009, 3:58 pm No news organization should coddle the president and no news organization should make a truce with the president. A free and critical media is one of the necessary elements of Democracy. Regardless of whether you support Fox news, any agreement it makes with the president is BAD for the public. The same was true when Bush was in office.
Posted by Mitch, Thursday, October 29, 2009, 6:21 pm If there was a truce between Fox and the Obama Administration, someone must have forgotten to tell Glenn Beck.did you see his show today?Wow!
Posted by The SiF, Thursday, October 29, 2009, 9:53 pm Open Mouth Insert Foot? Are we talking about Reid and Pelosi or Beck, Boss Limbaugh, Palin, McConnell, The Michelles, and on and on and on. Grayson may have gone overboard but I must admit the comment about Dick Cheney being a vampire and that he should just turn into a bat and fly away was freakin hilarious. All the FIX Noise crowd is nothing but holier than thou hipocrites telling us how to live when they can't even take care of their own families. If you want to know what a recovering crackhead looks like turn on the Glenn Beck Show.
Posted by the message, Thursday, October 29, 2009, 10:44 pm I get the message. It includes Patrick Kennedy telling the Catholic Church to support the healthbill and aborting babies. It includes BO talking about his war in Afg and then just allowing our military to die there without additional support. And what about transparency, it's nothing but a word in bo's dictionary. The message includes the old 60s radical hippies and their offspring like bo who are just one worlders and builders of America the new banana republic. If FOX's spike in viewers was just a temporary thing it will be apparent soon.
