Liz Cheney is declaring war on President Obama, said Ben Smith in Politico. She's joining forces with Weekly Standard editor William Kristol and Debra Burlingame, sister of an American Airlines pilot killed in the Sept. 11 attacks, to launch Keep America Safe, an organization dedicated to rallying opposition to what Cheney says is Obama's "radical" foreign policy. "The new group will add institutional heft to a scathing critique of Obama articulated first and loudest by Liz Cheney’s father," former Vice President Dick Cheney. (Watch the organization's first video)

What a perfect team—Liz Cheney and Bill Kristol are both clowns, said Steve Benen in Washington Monthly. Rich neocons will no doubt throw some checks their way. But if Cheney and Kristol would stop and think for a change, they would realize that they already "got to do exactly what they wanted to do—torture, pre-emptive war, abandoning the rule of law, abandoning democratic norms, alienating allies, ignoring the concept of international cooperation—and they failed anyway."

Sneer all you want, said Jennifer Rubin in Commentary, but President Obama hasn't made us safer by "repudiating American exceptionalism, soft-peddling American values, and denigrating the necessity of American military might"—he has merely won himself a Nobel Peace Prize. But if Liz Cheney and her organization complete the mission they've just started, some day the American electorate will come to see that Obama's foreign-policy approach is "both unsettling and dangerous."

Posted by John F., Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 2:32 pm They say insanity runs in families. The Cheneys may represent exhibit A.

Posted by Parah Salin, Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 2:43 pm What ever happened to 'respecting the office of the President'? Republicans only seem to do that when the president is one of their own. Creating a group to oppose the foreign policy of the sitting president: isn't that borderline treason? Kind of like Reagan cutting deals with the Iranians behind Carter's back?

Posted by dj spellchecka, Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 2:51 pm jennifer rubin must live in her own echochamber...the 'amercian electorate,' as a whole, doesn't agree with her talking points..... the cheney kristol approach has already been proven to be 'both unsettling and dangerous.'

Posted by Mike Long, Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 3:05 pm Good luck with appeasement. Didn't work for anybody else, why would it work now? Dictators and regimes don't care about John Lennon's Imagine.Stick to what you only moderately stink at: domestic policy.I'll take my comments off air, since I'll never return to your echochamber. Dorks.

Posted by Joshua, Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 3:18 pm The right's socalled claim of appeasement and the links back to Chamberlain are so far off the mark it isn't funny. Since when was Chamberlain an appeaser anyway? Any history reader will tell you that Chamberlain consulted with his military chiefs when the conference with Hitler was to take place and asked if Britain was ready for a war with Germany. They said no. He used DIPLOMACY to gain Britain the valuable time needed to get their military up to scratch. When the chiefs finally said yes, Britain declared war the next day.

Posted by Campbell, Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 3:46 pm Liz Dick Cheney, neither of those idiots have any class. All recent Presidents and Vice Presidents have shown the good taste to fade into the sunset after their terms were finished. But Liz and Dick hang around like a smelly block of old cheese that has gone bad. The Cheneys damaged our country for eight long painful years. Enough already!
